The beautiful weather continued as we traveled route 7, a scenic route we were excited to take home. The large plant above adorned many places in the south. Does anyone know what it is??
We stopped at a visitor center to have lunch outside and took this picture.
Norm asked inside about the route we planned on taking. A very nice older woman at least early 80's helped him. As she was speaking Norm noticed a large X at one point on route 7. He politely asked about it and the volunteer woman wasn't quite sure what it meant. Norm noticed an article near it about the road being washed out. The volunteer said she guesses it was fixed by now and boy you may be right, that may be what that X means. No the hurricane was ten days ago, surely it is fixed.
We were on our way and chuckled about the conversation....... then we laughed as we saw the large "7 DETOUR" signs. We followed the detour and counted ourselves lucky to see such
beautiful countryside we may have missed on route 7.
We were trying to make it to a 8 pm show in Branson, MO to see the Oakridge boys and had not secured a hotel yet. The ride was great fun. The scenery awesome and the road just kept turning and turning and turning intertwined with accending and decending. Soon it was reaching the time we would have been exiting route 7 for the more direct highways....... the thing was we were not on route 7, we were on the detour which had to go around part of the mountain.
At this point we were thankful for the GPS, it allowed us to enjoy the ride knowing we'd be lead to Branson. We just weren't quite sure when we would get there. Seeing the Oakridge Boys was the only thing we planned that had a specific arrival time to adhere to.
