Sept 25 2008 #1 Covington KY

The first picture is heading into Covington KY. We had planned on stopping here on the way out west, Ike changed that destination. The plan was to eat authentic food in the German Village and visit two famous churhes near by, as well as a clock tower.

We missed the Churches being open by half an hour. They were to have beautiful stain glass windows. It was stated that one of the Churches had the largest stain glass windows.

We didn't end up with Geman themed dinner but ate at a cute bistro outside. We talked to a couple eating outside and they said the food was wonderful. It was yet another georgous day to be enjoyed outside taking in all within view.

The food was really good, the service was good, it was comical reaching for our table umbrella each time a wind gust would arrive. The other couple warned us about their airborn unbrella earlier. Norm had the umbrella under control all but one time. It flew up and up about 14 feet toward the building. I found the whole thing quite funny and still chuckle each time I remember it!

From our table you could see the statue of the maiden with two geese. We had seen it noted in the AAA book and there it was as we ate our meal.

Just around the corner we visited the clock tower, it was almost on "the hour." Each hour characters come out and act out the story while the naration of "The Pied Piper" is spoken. Norm knew of the story, as did I; however Norm did not know that the reason the Pied Piper summoned all the children away with his music is because the town did not pay him for getting rid of all the rats in their town with them also following his music.

Off toward Cinn. Ohio. You can see the city and their stadium. I didn't know we were going to see a few stadiums on this trip. They look pretty cool and so different. I think being at the Longhorn Stadium in Texas made us more aware as we traveled.

I like the picture with the shadow of us in the motorcycle in it.
